Most "African Trade Beads were made in Czech Republic, Germany and other European countries in the last 500 years then given and traded in Africa where they continue to be highly prized. They were made in several ways, drawn glass, lamp worked, pressed, molded, powdered glass and also further modified by adding glass embellishment and sometimes paddled to flatten. More recently, beads have been added to the trade from other parts of the world.
